Controls

  • Mouse: Navigate menus
  • Spacebar: Hold to double speed, Release to jump

Starting a run, sequences all 10 levels and sums the time. In the stats you can also view the best times on each level and find the theoretical best time you wouldve gotten if all those best times we're in a single run.

Key takeaways from this small experiment:

  • AI-assisted coding is highly effective at generating structured features such as the main menu, stats screen, level selection, and basic data tracking.
  • It was also capable of creating simple character animations. While basic, its ability to approximate human-like movement was surprisingly compelling.
  • However, AI struggled significantly with level design. It lacked an understanding of gameplay feel, such as jump timing and difficulty balance, and was unable to produce a single fully playable level.

Conclusion

AI is great for speeding up the technical stuff like menus, systems, and basic features. It saves a lot of time and gets you up and running quickly. But when it comes to actual gameplay and level design, it falls short. It just doesn’t “feel” what makes something fun or playable. So it works best as a tool, not a replacement—handling the groundwork while you focus on making the game actually enjoyable.
